We just got word that boutique system vendor iBuyPower has partnered with Walmart to launch the retailer's first custom configurator on Walmart.com, allowing shoppers to configure an entry-level or decked out desktop, or something in between.

"There are few brands in the world that are as recognizable as Walmart," said Darren Su, Vice President of iBuyPower. "It is an honor to be chosen to join forces with them to offer custom built PCs, and will introduct the iBuyPower brand to an entirely new segment of gamers."

It's a logical choice, and a potential win-win situation. Like Walmart, iBuyPower puts a lot of focus on low prices, offering bang-for-the buck systems and configuration options. Joining forces gives iBuyPower a ton of exposure, and likewise, Walmart can now cater to gamers with real PCs made from off-the-shelf parts as opposed to budget boxes saddled with proprietary components.

Pricing starts at $578 and includes a modest selection of parts, including:

• AMD Athlon II X4 645 processor
• 2GB DDR3-1333 RAM
• 500GB 7200RPM HDD
• Nvidia GeForce GT430 graphics
• 24X DVD writer
• Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

All of these can be upgraded as your budget allows, up to a certain point. You can't configure a $3,000 dream machine build, though you can put together the following for around $1,650:

You don't have nearly the same number or variety of components to choose from as you do by surfing over to iBuyPower's homepage, but there are several from each category, and enough to build a respectable gaming PC without breaking the bank.
